Private Lessons in fiddle or flute are also now open for booking - there are only three slots for each so get in quick!

Ado Barker and Corinn Strating will be our tutors for the weekend and will teach us 4-5 new tunes over the course of the weekend

Please note: This event is entirely volunteer-run and community-focused. Proceeds from ticket sales go directly to either the tutors or towards camp hire. If this is your first time, be prepared to jump in and help with cooking, cleaning and making things run smoothly.

About our tutors:

Ado

Ado came to Irish traditional music as a young player captured by the thriving Irish music scenes of Canberra and Melbourne in the heady 1990s. From the early days, as the pull of the session drew him ever deeper into the tunes, Ado’s style was shaped by local players and hand-me-down recordings. Later, it was in Ennis, Co. Clare that he found full immersion in the music.  

As a performer, Ado is best known as a member of seminal Aus-Irish trad band Trouble in the Kitchen and more recently trad trio The Freewheelers. As a teacher, he’s been sought-after for workshops at festivals and camps far and wide, including the National Folk Festival’s Easter School, the Boxwood weekend and New Zealand’s Ceol Aneas. Connection with other players has always been at the heart of Ado’s music, and that ethos of exchange similarly underlies his approach to teaching and sharing the tunes.

Corinn

Corinn Strating grew up in a family of musicians and has played folk and traditional music from an early age. She dabbled in classical music and jazz throughout her youth but came back to the music of her heart, Irish traditional music, ultimately spending time in Ireland and Scotland absorbing as much of the tradition as possible. 

Corinn currently teaches flute and whistle at Comhaltas Naarm/Melbourne where she shares her 30+ years of experience with younger players and adults.
