    Event description

    Girl Gatherings is a series of workshops for girls aged 8-15yo created by Naturopath Cyena Caruana.

    Girl Gatherings
    aims to
    - Empower girls through education and self-awareness activities on their journey of emotional and physical development from tween to teen-age;
    - Deepen connections within their peer group;
    - Create a sense of greater community for girls by connecting them with other adult women in a safe space;
    - Develop self-confidence by promoting self-reflection, verbalisation, respect and honouring of their personal experience in a social context.

    Introduction to Sacred Circle
    This is a single workshop introducing young girls to the concept of sharing in sacred circle. It is a workshop for girls together with their mothers/female guardians.

    The aims of this workshop are:
    - Learn the format, history and value of women gathering in sacred circle;
    - Begin to develop emotional listening, reflection and verbalisation skills through simple sharing activities (both one on one and in the larger group);
    - Experience and contribute to a safe and respectful environment for listening, reflecting and verbal sharing of individual experiences.

    Workshop readiness
    Your child is ready for this workshop if she is:
    - 8-15yo
    - Showing signs of readiness for personal reflection and deeper discussion;
    - Showing signs of developing confidence in groups but requiring a safe space to develop that confidence;
    - Likely to benefit from group activities;
    - Is interested in participating in Girl Gatherings pre-menstrual education workshops next year but would benefit from a 'warm up' workshop.

    Facilitator:
    Cyena Caruana is an SVSS mum (daughter Sage, class 3N), Homeopath and Naturopath who has completed facilitator training with Red Tent Australia.

    Cyena has a double degree in Health Science and has extensive knowledge of women's health. She majored in Homeopathic management of women's reproductive pathology while studying with Endeavour College of Natural Health. As part of her practice as a Homeopath and Naturopath, Cyena currently consults with women and young girls to assist with hormone regulation, fertility, addressing reproductive pathology and supporting mental and emotional wellbeing, among other health issues.

    Cyena has previously held workshops and events for Samford Red Tent; including women’s circles, maiden circles, menstruation education workshops and Mother/Daughter events. Cyena has also undertaken the Rites of Passage training (Maiden, Mother, Mage, Crone) with Tanishka Moon Woman.

    Cyena has a passion for creating sacred spaces for women to gather,  and believes in the importance of helping young girls to embrace their transition to womanhood through positive role-modelling, support, connection and deep-honouring of self.

    Girl Gatherings is a passion project that has grown out of Cyena's previous work as well as the intentions and wishes of many passionate mothers wanting to cultivate a safe space for our daughters to experience sisterhood and belonging as they journey into womanhood.
