ZEST Robotics is hosting a girls-only intermediate robotics workshop to give young girls the skills they need to jumpstart their FIRST LEGO League Legacy! Throughout the workshop, participants will develop problem-solving skills when they come face-to-face with unique robotics and coding challenges from an FLL season.

Throughout the day we will focus on our core 5; resilience, friendly competition, cooperation, challenge, and of course, fun. This workshop is designed for intermediate girls, aged between 9-14. We'd love to meet you, so join us! We have one thing in common... Girl Power!

Please note; content covered in this workshop may have appeared in previous workshops. If you feel confident operating LEGO Spike Primes, we suggest having a look at our "Girls Problem Solving Challenge" instead!

What to expect:

1. Workshop participants will revise the fundamentals of LEGO Spike Prime coding and develop new programming skills.

2. Participants will have the opportunity to use LEGO to enhance Spike Prime robots. This includes details as to how to optimize motors, sensors, and attachments to make their robot perform specific tasks.

3. Over the day, we will apply our core 5 to create a fun, safe learning environment.

Laptops and robots will be provided.

Insurance

Adults are very welcome, but not necessarily required to accompany the participants during the class. They can be dropped off at the beginning of the class and collected at the end. Supervision, support and insurance is provided by the Peregian Digital Hub.

Media Consent:

We will be taking photographs and video clips of the activities during workshops to share on social media for promotional and informational purposes. Your attendee may appear in these photographs or video clips. Unless explicitly notified beforehand, your attendee’s participation in the workshop confers consent to us being able to publish that media via social media and other media channels.

COVID-19 Policy/ Guidelines:
The workshop is being held at Peregian Digital Hub, a Noosa Council facility. Noosa Council has advised the Hub does not require proof of vaccination for entry. However, workshop attendees will be required to check-in (via paper and/or Qld Check-In app). Queensland Health's requirements are that masks must be worn inside venues and workplaces (for ages 12 and up).
Sanitiser will be provided in the venue and surfaces/desks will be cleaned in between each workshop. Anyone who is feeling unwell or has cold/flu-like symptoms must not attend the workshop. A refund will be issued if you can no longer attend due to illness or if changes to Qld Health's mandates mean the workshop cannot proceed.

A bit about us:

ZEST Robotics are ambassadors for all things girls! We love robotics and our girls-only workshops are not the first time we have had the opportunity to share our passion for STEM. We have competed internationally, as we recently travelled to America to attend the FIRST LEGO League World Festival Houston. Our team, RoboRoyals came second in the global competition, and have been crowned Australian champions. Over the course of three years, we’ve presented over 30 workshops, robotics volunteering events, and collaborated with local universities to deliver high-quality robotics education to young aspiring girls.

We know that engineering, science and technology is the future. And we also know that the future is female. What is important is that we can equip today’s young minds, with the knowledge, skills and confidence that tomorrow's leaders, engineers and scientist need. ZEST Robotics is the first stepping stone to a world of opportunity for all girls alike.
