Girls who Build | Teen Wood Workshops - School Holiday Week 1 Sept 2026
Girls Who Build | Wood Workshops for Teens
Creative. Practical. Empowering. And a chance to get hands-on with power tools!
Our Girls Who Build classes are designed for girls and young women who want to explore the creative and empowering world of woodworking in a supportive, girls-only environment.
At WomenzShed, there’s no pressure to already know what you’re doing and no judgement when something doesn’t go to plan. We encourage a trial-and-error approach where mistakes are simply part of learning. The focus is on having a go, learning new skills and discovering just how much you’re capable of making.
Our projects include jewellery holders, tool/craft boxes and picture frames, with each session designed to introduce a range of practical woodworking skills and give participants the opportunity to use power tools they may never otherwise get the chance to try.
What is there to learn?
Hand-tool woodworking
Safe and effective use of power tools
Measuring, marking out and basic layout
Construction and assembly techniques
Problem-solving and working things out as they go
Hand-eye coordination, patience and attention to detail
The confidence to tackle new projects and keep building their skills
Most importantly, learners will leave with new skills, a finished project and the confidence to have a go at something they may never have thought they could do.
And Mum doesn't have to feel left out! If she'd like to get hands-on too, she can check out our adult classes, including our Introduction to Woodwork.
