GIRT! A (Kinda Sweary) Poetry Reading
Event description
GIRT! A (Kinda Sweary) Poetry Reading with Anna Brennan
Anna has been writing poetry for as long as she can remember. Some of it is funny. Some is heart-warmy. Some is sweary (so don't say you weren't warned).
Girt means to surround or encircle. Poetry (at least according to Anna) is about what and who surrounds and encircles her. Come along, and hear what has her GIRT.
The poetry will be held in The Rhythm Bar at the Gympie RSL followed by a duets singing sesh, where you can sign up to sing a song (karaoke style) witha buddy and the performers with the most heart will win a $50 RSL voucher.
This show is part of a project Anna is doing with photographer Grace Martin called Duets. The show is accompanied by an exhibition of photographs and a mini-film screening by Grace, which is also called GIRT. There will be a free entry Panel Discussion before the poetry reading, also at the RSL.
Anna is standup comedian, author and event producer. She does lots of things, most of them at the last minute, and some of them very well.
Duets is run by Creative Arts Gympie Region (CAGR) with funding from RADF. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Gympie Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
