Description

Misogyny underpins many of the issues we are grappling with as a society: the rise of the manosphere and tradwife content, the pervasiveness of gender-based violence, an epidemic of loneliness and mental health issues, and increasing polarisation and backlash against gender equality.

These issues, far from being isolated instances, are interconnected. Misogyny affects and constrains all of us. In this event, the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership will bring together cutting-edge research and advocacy from across key sectors in this space – women’s safety, healthy masculinities, and gender equality - to connect these conversations, share best-practice, and forge partnerships.

The Hon Julia Gillard AC will be in conversation with Chanel Contos, Founder and CEO of Teach Us Consent, Ben Vasiliou, CEO of The Man Cave, and Michelle Ryan, Director of GIWL at ANU. Together, the panel will explore a positive agenda for collaboration, that acknowledges the challenges and opportunities facing us, and champions how we can work together to drive meaningful change.

Doors open at 5pm.
