Course description: Discover the creative possibilities of kiln-formed glass in this hands-on workshop. Students will be introduced to the fundamental techniques of fusing and slumping, with a focus on exploring colour, transparency, surface, form and composition.
Students will develop essential skills in glass cutting and handling, layering sheet glass, working with frit, stringers and recycled glass, creating texture and relief, preparing simple moulds, and understanding basic kiln-firing processes. Through a series of projects, students will explore how heat and gravity can transform flat glass into sculptural and three-dimensional forms, tableware and wearable pieces, while developing their own creative approach to the material.
