GLEBE'S LOST INDUSTRIAL WATERFRONT - an illustrated talk by Max Solling
Description
For more than 100 years industry dominated Glebe's waterfront. Little now remains of these industries.
What was it like?
Early photographs of Blackwattle and Rozelle Bay together with Glebe maps and aerial photographs reveal the nature of Glebe waterfront then.
Transformation from industrial to residential waterfront began in the early 1970s which coincided with a sharp decline in manufacturing and, at the same time, the advent of container shipping which meant the need for a new port at Botany Bay and much industry shifting there and elsewhere.
