Glen Arm Trees Members Field Trip

Following last years' field trip success, we are going back to Glen Arm Trees!

We will be visiting Tim Richards in Romsey in the Macedon Ranges, to learn about growing furniture grade timber. During the trip, Tim will show us through the stages of growing timber for furniture, managing an agroforestry plantation and we will also get the chance to mill timber from a log (weather permitting of course).

Glen Arm Trees began planting in 1999 as four young agroforesters embarked on the long term venture of growing furniture grade Australian hardwood on central VIC farmland. Selective felling, milling and drying of our lumber began on site in 2022, and they are now producing premium timbers to supply custom furniture makers and select building projects.

This trip is for those members who want to:
- Educate themselves regarding how trees are grown for furniture, from seed through to timber
- Learn about selecting logs for furniture timber
- Be able to discuss timber sourcing and sustainability with clients
- Learn more about agroforestry

Location: Glen Arm Angus, 426 Kerrie Rd, Romsey VIC 3434. Map
Time: 10am in Romsey until 4pm. (expect 1h-1h15min drive)
