Event description

Glenorchy Carols, usually held at Tolosa Park each year, will live on in 2020 with choirs and performers set to entertain the community on Saturday December 12th on Council Lawns.

You will be treated to songs from the Glenorchy Not So Silent Combined School Choir, they have been working with local superstar Naarah Barnes to create a Glenorchy Christmas song! They will perform with Glenorchy Concert Brass Band. Also featured will be a local acapella trio, Naarah Barnes will sing some festive favourites and the one and only Santa will make an appearance too!

Each year Glenorchy City Council is thrilled to partner with YMCA to bring you a variety of arts projects that star at the holiday village usually held at Glenorchy Carols. This year the Moonah Arts Centre has been working with four local artists to create unique DIY Christmas lanterns that you can make at home for your family or to pass on as a gift to someone special this Christmas.

Santa’s helpers will be handing out these DIY Christmas lanterns at the pop-up event – you can also collect them at Glenorchy City Council at 374 Main Road or Moonah Arts Centre, Albert Road.

We hope you enjoy making your Christmas Lantern, please share pictures of your lanterns on social media using the hashtags #glenorchylanterns #glenorchychristmas.

Head to www.facebook.com/glenorchycarols to share your creations!

Lantern Artists: Roz Wren, Jodie Chivers, Edith Perrenot and Julia Drouhin

WARNING - DIY Lanterns are not intended to be made by children under the age of 8 years, unless supervised by an adult. Some packs may contain small objects that can be harmful to small children.

Glenorchy Christmas Gifting Tree

Each year Council raises funds for local charities to support families in need during the festive season. As part of our annual Christmas Gifting Tree campaign we usually collect items, gift cards and cash donations, this year we are asking the Glenorchy Community to support our online giving campaign! This year we are supporting Hobart Women’s Shelter and Loaves and Fishes Tasmania.
