Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta History Open Day
Description
Note: This event will proceed if it is raining on Saturday. There will be some shelters but please bring your wet weather gear! All guided walks will leave from the event 'hub' in the adventure playground.
On Saturday the 16th of May, Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is having an open day. Everyone is invited to this celebration of the Park's history and ongoing conservation and cultural connections. A Welcome to Country will open the celebrations.
There are a number of historically important areas preserved in the park. One of these, an ammunitions hut, will be open to the public where you will be able to view, and learn about, several significant artefacts.
You can also join the Friends of Glenthorne National Park as they take guided walks through the Park. Select the Register button to sign up for one of these guided walks.
Nature Play SA will be present on the day, providing fun, educational, and interactive experiences for children. They will be set up near the adventure playground, which features three slides, a seesaw, spinner, fossil dig area, accessible equipment, and Kaurna carvings and sculptures set across 7,000 square metres. This is one of the biggest nature play spaces in South Australia.
A coffee and food stall will be available, but please feel free to bring a picnic lunch to have in the Park.
The open day will run from 10 am to 3 pm so come at any time. The event will open at 10 am with a Welcome to Country.
