a stage play by Yael Gezentsvey | Kavanah Productions
Based on the biography 'Maria Dronke: Glimpses of an Acting Life' by Monica Tempian
Do you know Maria Dronke? The star of the European stage who fled Nazi Germany for the safety of New Zealand and went on to train the first generation of NZ theatre icons. Travelling through space and time, GLIMPSES takes us into the world of Maria Dronke, through the eyes of Yael, a restless Kiwi actress and mother, in search of a glimpse of hope and inspiration to carry her through.
The reading will be directed by Illana Stein, and read by actors Jess Loudon, Mel Dodge and Julia Moore.
The development of GLIMPSES has been supported by Creative New Zealand, The German Embassy, The Holocaust Centre New Zealand, Playmarket, The Hannah Playhouse, AJT, Susan & Nigel Isaacs, Tim Gregg & Sally Thomson-Gregg, Jeremy Smith and Trinity Hotel.
