Event description

Join us for a thought-provoking panel event that rethinks what security means in our complex, interconnected world.

From cyber threats to borders and power politics —how we define and defend "security" is being reshaped every day. This event brings together leading voices from across disciplines to explore global security beyond traditional frameworks.

Together, we'll ask:

  • Who gets to define security?

  • What issues are being left out of mainstream debates?

  • How can multi-level, multi-disciplinary approaches reshape our future?

Meet our panellists:

  • Dr Vandra Harris-Agisilaou, Global Studies, RMIT University

  • Dr Gemma Sou, School of Social Sciences, Monash University

  • Dr Huan Vo-Tran, College of Business and Law, RMIT University

  • Abdullah Evan, School of Global, Urban and Social Studies, RMIT University

  • Moderated by Dr Tuba Boz, Social Work and Human Services, RMIT University

We invite you to the book launch of 'Global Security Reimagined: A Multi-Disciplinary Exploration'  in which we aim to unpack the discourse surrounding global security from a range of multi-disciplinary perspectives. While various aspects of security such as great power politics, border security, cybersecurity, energy security, and terrorism often absorb the main focus of academic, political, economic and media attention, this book emphasises the significance of a holistic approach and multi-level analysis of security in order to attain a comprehensive insight and understanding.

'Global Security Reimagined: A Multi-Disciplinary Exploration'  will be launched by Prof Robyn Martin, Associate Dean, Social Work and Human Services, RMIT University
