Bourekas

Bourekas are a beloved staple in Israeli cuisine, brought by Jewish communities from the Balkans and the Middle East. These flaky pastries, often filled with cheese or potatoes, are found in nearly every bakery and market stall across the country. What makes them special is not just their crispy, golden layers, but the way they reflect Israel’s rich cultural mosaic. Served with fresh Israeli salad and tangy pickles, bourekas are a nostalgic comfort food that captures the flavours of home and the warmth of shared traditions.  

Noy is from Israel and has been living in New Zealand for nearly 6 years. Before he moved to Aotearoa he lived in the United Kingdom for 13 years where he met his kiwi wife, Shay. They live in Kaiapoi and Noy loves the lifestyle here.

Noy's interests are football, food, travel and their two dogs Ernie and Nibbles' 🐶
