WHY GO BLUE FOR JUNE?

‘Go Blue for June’ is the flagship fundraising campaign for Busselton Hospice Care Inc. It aims to raise awareness, funds, and community support for end-of-life care services.

WHO WE ARE? Busselton Hospice Care is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation established over 30 years ago. We provide compassionate, respectful, and innovative palliative care, supported by trained volunteers. Our vision is Supporting life lived well, dying, death and bereavement and our mission is Everyone matters: No one needs to die or grieve alone.  Our services are free of charge and focus on the sacredness of life and death.

WHAT WE DO? We offer palliative care to help individuals live fully and comfortably with life-limiting illnesses. Our services include:

  • Volunteer Support: Emotional and social support in the Hospice Unit and through community outreach. Volunteers play a crucial role in providing companionship, listening to life stories, and offering comfort to patients and their families.
  • Complementary Therapies: Provided at the Geographe Bay Centre, these therapies include massage, aromatherapy, and other holistic treatments to support the well-being of carers and clients.
  • Bereavement Support: Individual and group options available to help those experiencing grief. This support is tailored to meet the unique needs of each person, offering a safe space to express emotions and find solace.

HOW WE WORK? Volunteers provide ward-based support at the Busselton Health Campus and in-home support through our Community Outreach Program. We also offer complementary therapies and bereavement support at the Geographe Bay Centre. Our volunteers work alongside nursing staff to enhance the care provided, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive support.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP? We rely on donations and fundraising events as we do not receive regular government funding. Financial support is essential to continue providing free services to the community. With a growing population and increased life expectancy, the demand for our services is rising. Your contributions help us maintain and expand our programs, ensuring that everyone in Busselton, Dunsborough, and surrounding communities can live, die, and grieve well.
