Go wild in nature these school holidays!

Oaklands Wetlands is a great place to explore with kids. Winding secret paths, huge old gums with bird life, stepping stones across the water, large open paths for prams - there's something for every family.

Meet us at the Rotunda to start your AMAZING morning. You can do as little or as much as you like!

    9:30 am - Explore Oaklands Wetlands

    • collect a map and go on a nature scavenger hunt
    • learn how to use Inaturalist to discover the natural world

    OR

    9:30am - Wild Wetland Tour with Dr Sylvia (Aquatic Ecologist with Glenelg Nature Trust)

    • Discover what lives in the wetland
    • Find out how wetlands help our environment

    10 am and 10:30am - Macroinvertebrates with Green Adelaide Nature Education Staff 

    Go pond dipping to discover the world of water bugs.  See if you can find a water boatman or a scud? These curious creatures can tell us how healthy the water is and it is a great way to explore the wetlands

      11:15 am - Nature Journaling (1 hour)
      Explore the joy of nature through creative art. No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to express your creativity. Suitable for ages 5 - 100. Drawing materials will be provided. As numbers are limited, please book separately for this event here (link coming soon).

      Tickets are FREE, please order a ticket for every adult and child in your group – this will help us better plan for the event.

      Remember:

      • Wear suitable clothing for the weather and shoes with sturdy soles.
      • Bring your own drink bottle, snacks and food
      • Children are required to be supervised by their parent/guardian at all times at this event
      • Photographs will be taken at this event - please advise the photographer if you do not wish to have you or your child's photo taken
      • Parking is limited due to construction works, please aim to arrive 10 minutes early, leaving plenty of time to find a park.
