    Event description

You are invited to a tender afternoon exploring Deep Ecology and the inspiration behind Caitlin’s creative process in her solo exhibition ‘Deep Loner’; a profound exploration of human emotion, vulnerability, and interconnectedness. As we continue to navigate the challenges of our rapidly changing world, it is experiences like this that serve as beacons of hope and inspiration.

    What to expect?
In an intimate group of about 30 people, we will tour through Caitlin Möhr’s exhibition ‘Deep Loner', viewing her work through the lens of Deep Ecology. You can expect to be immersed in an artwork experience that fuses experiential deep ecology processes and creative expression, and be given reflective and interactive questions and prompts, to not only introduce you to the inspiring, vulnerable, and grounding practice and philosophy of Deep Ecology, but to receive practical guidance to look inwards, to listen to each other, to feel and understand challenging emotions, and to connect with humanity and Earth. With guidance and consideration this is an opportunity for you to step into the inner landscape of yourself and those around you, while being held by a collective ecosystem in the safe and private setting of an empty gallery. Our intention is that you will emerge back into the world lighter…ready to go forth and engage with a new perspective in your own life’s work and offerings.

At the end of the workshop we will enjoy some light refreshments and sharing, followed by an informal Q&A with the artist at the end, who will be participating in the workshop alongside you. This event is for people over the age of 15.

    What is Deep Ecology?
Deep Ecology is an environmental movement and philosophy which regards human life as just one of many equal components of a global ecosystem. Deep Ecology practices provide a framework for understanding our emotional challenges so that our pain can be understood, accepted, integrated and honoured. Joanna Macy’s ‘the work that reconnects’ is a form of group work inspired by Deep Ecology and has been designed to foster the desire and ability to take part in the healing of our world. Through practices like this we recognise our similarities and with shared intention, the illusion of separation and loneliness softens.

“Of all the dangers we face, from climate chaos to nuclear war, none is so great as the deadening of our response” - Joanna Macy

“The fundamental insight of deep ecology is that underlying all of the symptoms of environmental problems, there is the illusion of separation between human beings and the natural world” - John Seed

    Who’s your facilitator?
Tanya is a thoughtful, stimulating and experienced nature connection facilitator with over 10 years of experience in deep ecology practices, eco arts therapy, grief ritual and connecting people to themselves and the natural world. Honoured to guide you through Deep Loner, Tanya holds a new lens for seeing art, yourself and the systems we live in. A creator of safe, informative and vulnerable spaces, Tanya’s work and workshops are considerate, trauma informed and a reminder that people are nature expressing itself. After relocating back to South Australia from travel, Tanya cares for land in the Adelaide hills by employing permaculture practices and is creating a healing garden for future retreats and workshops. Her work has gone so deep into ecology and the natural world that we are lucky she has resurfaced, not only to guide us along a journey of self-acceptance, but to create lasting connections with life on Earth.
