Join us for an inspiring evening as the Sydney Peace Foundation awards the Gold Medal to Dr Bob Brown. This ceremony honours his unwavering commitment to protecting our planet.

He will be awarded the Sydney Peace Foundation Gold Medal for "his life-long commitment to environmental and social justice, standing up for nature and a sustainable world. Impactful environmental campaigns, spearheaded by his courageous and visionary leadership, and the creation of the Bob Brown Foundation, are a life-affirming legacy for this fragile planet and society."  

This event is a call to hold power accountable and ensure that environmental justice remains at the heart of a peaceful, equitable society.

    • Greens NSW MP Sue Higginson

    • National Director Australia Youth Climate Coalition Grace Vegesana

    • CEO Nature Conservation Council NSW Jacqui Mumford,

  • Book Sale: Dr Brown's book, Defiance, will be available for purchase. Drawing on his decades of activism, Defiance serves as a powerful call to action for a new generation to keep fighting for the wild.

  • Dr Bob Brown

    Dr Bob Brown

    Bob Brown is an environmental and social justice campaigner and former senator. A founding member of the Wilderness Society, he led the successful campaign against the construction of the Franklin Dam. He served in Tasmanian state parliament for a decade, was leader of the Australian Greens, and was elected to the federal Senate. After retiring from the Senate, he established the Bob Brown Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation supporting environmental causes.

  • Sue Higginson

    Sue Higginson

    Sue is a NSW Greens MP in the Legislative Council and the former CEO of the Environmental Defenders Office, with over 30 years of experience as a frontline activist and public interest lawyer. Driven by a commitment to social and environmental justice, she works to legislate protections for First Nations heritage, end native forest logging, and challenge the expansion of fossil fuel interests across the state.

  • Grace Vegesana

    Grace Vegesana

    Grace is the National Director of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and a dedicated advocate for intersectional justice, building youth power to end fossil fuel expansion since the age of 17. She has pioneered climate and social justice initiatives across Western Sydney, co-founding the People of Colour Climate Network and mobilising thousands of businesses for the Climate Strikes.

  • Jacqui Mumford

    Jacqui Mumford

    Jacqui has a diverse background in strategic leadership, philanthropy, organising and environmental compliance. She brings this wealth of experience into her role as CEO of the Nature Conservation Council of NSW, alongside a passion for climate action and environmental protection.

  • Cocoa the Conscious

    Cocoa the Conscious

    Gadigal-based poet, rapper, and community practitioner Cocoa the Conscious creates at the intersection of music, spirituality, and social change. Born in Australia with Ghanaian and Lebanese roots, his artistry is deeply grounded in cultural identity, lived experience, and a commitment to truth-telling.
