Gondwanan Plants of the North Shore Illustrated Talk by Dr Peter Weston

Dr. Peter Weston is a prominent Australian systematic botanist and evolutionary biologist whose research has heavily focused on the origin, evolution, and distribution of Gondwanan flora. As a former senior principal research scientist at the National Herbarium of New South Wales (Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, Sydney), his work centres on how the breakup of the ancient supercontinent Gondwana shaped modern plant life across the Southern Hemisphere. We see these evolutionary relationships in many native plant families on Sydney's North Shore, e.g. Proteaceae (geebungs, banksias, waratahs, grevilleas, and close relatives), Orchidaceae (orchids) Fabaceae (legumes) and Rutaceae (citrus family).

When Peter lived in Lane Cove, he was a member of the LCBCS.
