Begin the Journey

Begin the Journey comprises 9 weekly sessions lasting 2.5 hours, for a group of 8 to 10 men.

The program will run on Wednesday evenings from 7-9.30pm for 9 weeks, starting on Wednesday 31st July.

The program introduces men to meeting as a group/circle, in what we call ‘sitting in circle’.

With facilitation, we build a safe, confidential space where men develop a deep connection with each other, and explore their selves, without judgement and criticism.

Each of the 9 sessions has a theme that is discussed, has experiential learning and personal sharing in a traditional men’s group/circle environment.

The program builds men’s emotional intelligence and equips the men with the tools and experiences to continue as an ongoing self-supporting circle where each man can be witnessed in his growth journey and witness other men in their journey.

Men sometimes find an activity or experience difficult. Men are encouraged to share their experiences with the group/circle and facilitator support after the session is offered and provided as needed. Facilitators are available by phone between the sessions and will check-in with men if they think support is needed.

Our experience is the program can be quite therapeutic for men, however it is important to note the program is not therapy. Where the facilitators think a man would benefit, he is encouraged and supported to seek professional support through relevant organisations.

When the men continue as a self-supporting circle at the end of the program facilitators are available to join the men in circle 3 or 4 weeks after the end of the program where the men can share their ideas, concerns, and challenges regarding their ongoing circle.
