This winter, the Free Speech Union New Zealand is hitting the road. The Good Faith Yarns Tour brings honest, good-faith conversation to ten communities across the country, including the regional centres that so often get left out of the national conversation. With a general election on the horizon, public debate is getting louder and more polarised. We want to do something different.
Politics in the regions doesn't always look like politics in Wellington and Palmerston North knows that better than most. With a general election on the horizon, questions about how New Zealand is governed, who holds power, and whether the media still plays a useful role in democratic life have never felt more urgent. This is an evening for people who are tired of being talked at and want a real conversation instead.
Joining Ani O'Brien on his home turf is Liam Hehir, one of New Zealand's most reliable and clear-eyed political voices, and a Palmerston North local. Expect sharp analysis, honest disagreement, and none of the Wellington bubble.
