About Lorina Gore

Australian soprano Lorina Gore completed her postgraduate voice studies at the Australian National University in Canberra and at the National Opera Studio in London. Her numerous awards include the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship, the Opera Awards, Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship, and the Australian National Aria Competition.

For Opera Australia Lorina has performed many roles including: Queen of the Night, Die Fiakermilli (Arabella), Amina and Lisa (La sonnambula), Leila (Les pêcheurs de perles), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Violetta, Musetta, Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, Honey B (Bliss; Sydney, Melbourne, Edinburgh Festival), Marzelline (Fidelio) (State Opera of South Australia). Her 2017 performance as Roxana in Krol Roger, earned her a prestigious Helpmann Award.

International performances include the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor Iford Arts, Fiakermilli (Arabella) Garsington Opera, Giulia (La Scala di Seta) Independent Opera, Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Agilea (Teseo) and Sandrina (L’infedeltà delusa) English Touring Opera, Musetta (Hanoi Opera Vietnam), Norina (Don Pasquale) and Violetta (La Traviata) for New Zealand Opera.

In concert, Lorina has appeared with the Sydney Philharmonia, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, Collegium Musicum Choir, Melbourne Bach Choir and all the State Orchestras. She is regularly invited to perform in China and recorded highlights from Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier with Yvonne Kenny (ABC Classics). She appeared in Handel’s Rodelinda conducted by Richard Bonynge and has toured with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (Ode to Nellie Melba).

About Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin was born in Sydney, Australia, and studied singing at the St Petersburg State Conservatory. His career as an operatic tenor has seen him embrace a wide range of roles at some of the world’s greatest opera houses, including La Scala Milan, Gran Theatre Liceu Barcelona, Teatro Real Madrid and the Sydney Opera House. Notably, he is the only westerner to perform the role of Lensky at the Bolshoi Theatre.

On the concert platform he has toured with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under Yuri Temirkanov, and performed with all the major Australian symphony orchestras. His repertoire runs the gamut from Baroque opera through Romantic oratorio to contemporary music. He is a passionate champion of lieder and art song, and has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Mariinsky Concert Hall, Oxford Lieder Festival, and countless international festivals. With pianist Daniel De Borah he has recorded Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin and Winterreise for ABC Classic FM. He has received critical acclaim for his performances in recordings for Pinchgut Opera, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the world premiere of Rodion Shchedrin’s Boyarina Morozova.
