Cybersecurity: Protecting your Business 

This session will look at what are the threats to your small business / terminology explained / how to protect your business / where to access further support. Presented by Fiona Brockenshire – Assistant Director, Cyber and Infrastructure Security Group, Department of Home Affairs

Fiona works in the Industry Partnerships & Infrastructure Policy Division and will be addressing basic cyber security awareness, outlining the threat environment, common cyber security threats, mitigation strategies and where to go for free information and support, also includes an outline of the all-hazards risk approach, identifying the four main hazard domains – cyber, personnel, physical/natural and supply chain integrity.


Small Business Month 2023 Series of FREE workshops featuring industry experts who will provide an overview of the issues facing small businesses. There will be three sessions covering different topics followed by a networking event at conclusion.

Session 1: Trade 3-4pm

Session 2: Cyber Security 4-5pm

Session 3: Employer essentials 5-6pm

Networking – open to all attendees 6-9pm

Tea and coffee provided at all sessions. Finger food provided at the networking function.


These sessions can be attended either individually or all together. All attendees are welcome to stay for the networking session.

Trade: Navigating Tendering and Procurement - The Federal Department of Finance will deliver a session on Selling to Government – An Introduction to Australian Government Procurement for Suppliers. Presented by Rachel Lee – Assistant Director of Future Made in Australia Office, Department of Finance

This is an introductory session, supporting suppliers to understand how to participate in Australian Government procurement and contracting opportunities, covering:

  • Why sell to the Australian Government
  • What the Australian Government buys and how
  • Procurement methods and industry engagement
  • How to start the process to sell
  • Responding to an Approach to market
  • What to expect if you win / don’t win a contract.


Team: Essentials for Employers - This session will provide an overview of employer essentials. This will include; - Broad rundown of the changes that came into effect for casual employees and explain how this can and has affected recruitment for local companies. - How to about advertising and what legislative requirements there are around advertising for staff.

Presented by Kylie Gardner, a recruitment specialist with Think Recruitment in Goulburn. Think Recruitment supply recruitment solutions for all businesses and partner with businesses to subcontract HR functions. Kylie has worked with many businesses locally and has detailed insights into the employment in Goulburn.
