Description

Would you like to contribute to environmental restoration? Signal Hill Bushland is the only remnant bushland remaining in the City of Belmont. It is home to a variety of native flora and fauna, but these are under threat from invasive species such as the Pink Gladiolus, which proliferates in spring. Whilst they look attractive, these invasive species spread quickly and outcompete our native flora for space, nutrients, water and sunlight.

We are looking for volunteers to spend a Sunday morning helping us to remove these weeds in an effort to allow our native plants to flourish. As well as the satisfaction of doing something great, volunteers may also get an opportunity to see some flowering native plants including orchids, and native fauna including bobtail lizards that may be coming out of brumation to breed.

Some refreshments will be provided for your hard work.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, water and wear long sleeves, pants and enclosed shoes.

All Grab a Gladi Day participants will need to complete the Volunteer Registration Questionnaire included in their Humanitix ticket registration.

Children under the age of 16 years need to be supervised by a parent/guardian.
