Event description
Learn to create your own graphic novel story, with experienced writer/illustrator Isobelle Carmody.
A graphic novel is a vessel for story. The writing always matters, and the visuals can come in many forms from complex painstaking drawing or painting, to digital images and collage. Participants will gain practical skills in combining writing and visuals in story telling.
Learning outcomes
As part of this workshop, participants will:
- Improve writing skills and editing.
- Discover visual skills you have without knowing it.
Format
This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held at State Library of Queensland. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and writing backgrounds.
About Isobelle
Isobelle Carmody is a writer and illustrator with over 40 books. She won CBC Book of the year twice. She has also written many award winning short stories and is currently working on a graphic novel, and the final book in the Legendsong Series, Darkbane. She completed A PhD at UQ in 2020.
