Grazing Practice Guide Launch Field Day
Description
Join us for a field day to launch our Regenerative Grazing Practice Guide. Hosted by farmers Nick and Deanna Austin, with guest speaker and renowned educator Brian Wehlburg.
In partnership with five experienced graziers from around Australia, and some of Australia’s most respected grazing educators and training institutions, we’ve produced a resource that distils the most common principles and practices used by graziers to regenerate soil health and landscape function. This will be the first of five nationwide events hosted by the five graziers featured in the guide.
Come along to hear about how livestock can be used as a tool to improve soil, landscape and farm business health, and how Nick Austin changed his grazing management to create a more flexible and resilient business.
Brian will explain the principles of regenerative grazing and guide us through how to apply these in the field.
The focus is on practical, paddock-based learning, farmer observations and decision-making tools that can be applied on farm.

Lineup

Brian Wehlburg
Brian is a highly regarded Holistic Management educator with many years of experience delivering workshops across Australia. Brian enjoys sharing his passion for environmental improvement and grazing management and is motivated by seeing the positive change that Holistic Management can bring to people's lives and livelihoods.

Nick Austin
Nick and Deanna Austin run cattle on their property, Mundarlo, located on the Murrumbidgee river in New South Wales. Attending a Holistic Management course in 2001 ‘shifted a lot of paradigms’ and introduced Nick to a whole new way of thinking and viewing the world. This learning was a foundation for the changes that Nick began to implement in 2010 after getting through the Millennium drought. For Nick and Deanna, using their Holistic Context to guide their decision making has led to the creation of a flexible enterprise that creates the quality of life they are seeking and generates true profit that is not at the expense of the environment or other people. The grazing enterprise has shifted over time from a breeding focus to a trading operation, to currently being a blend of breeding cattle and trading livestock. This captures the benefits of trading and the consistency of a breeding herd. The breeding herd can also utilise feed that the trading herd may not be suitable for.
