Great Global Mend 2026

Creative Community Space and The Fabric ReStore are joining communities around Australia on Saturday 7th November for the Great Global Mend.

The Great Global Mend is a national community event that brings people together to repair and mend clothing and textiles. At the heart of the event is a simultaneous mass-mending moment, where participants across multiple locations begin mending at exactly the same time. The event celebrates community, creativity and circular fashion, helping people extend the life of their clothing, learn repair skills and take positive climate action.

Together, we're proving that repair isn't just about fixing clothes; it's about building stronger communities, preserving skills and creating a future where repair comes before replacement.

Held in partnership with FabPatch, this unique event will unite residents across Australia in a shared mission to tackle textile waste and celebrate the power of repair. Come be part of a record-breaking movement showing how local actions create global change.

What is the Record to Break, you ask? 298 menders in 2025! The goal for 2026 is 600+. Will you be one of them?

To support your repair sit-in, we will provide

• Needles

• Thread

• Scissors

• Pins

• Tape

• Collection of buttons (we will also have buttons available to purchase at The Fabric ReStore)

• Safety pins

• Fabric scraps

• Iron/ironing board

Come along with your mending pile, sit in and get busy mending your garments with other like-minded people, all supporting each other to repair their loved clothing items so you can continue wearing them.



Please note: This is DIY mending event, not a repair service. While there won't be any official instructors, other participants along with our ReStore staff member will be a great sorce of inspration and support.
