GREAT JOB! BRISBANE - GREASER
Event description
After a blistering 2023 which saw them support the likes of The Smith Street Band, Jebediah, and Dear Seattle, Great Job! have kept their cards close to their chest this year as they hunkered down to start work on their debut album. The release of Clap Clap; Clap marks the start of a new era for the band as they headline an east coast tour in October 2024.
Clap Clap; Clap is a song for anyone who’s buried their head in denial of impending disaster. With a driving tempo and lyrics shouted with wild abandon, this song will take you through the manic positivity of narcissistic self deception until you’re slapped in the face by the cold wave of reality. A perfect balancing act of dramatic irony, the audience can only listen as the song veers closer and closer to a dark conclusion that the narrator can’t see coming - hey kids, don’t go off your meds without seeing a doctor and making a plan!
Musically, it’s an unquestionable banger. In this song produced by Jay Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb at Pet Food Factory, Great Job! are bringing intensity and energy like you’ve never seen before. Working with Jay, the band were able to cut loose and produce a raw and unburdened performance, adding ideas and rewriting lyrics as they went.
“We needed to learn to get out of our own heads, and working with Jay really brought that energy,” says Charlie Hollands, vocalist. “I was writing the lyrics right up until we recorded, and then we just smashed out the vocals in one take and got exactly what we wanted.”
With Clap Clap; Clap, Great Job! are reconnecting with their rock n roll roots - the song was recorded with the same bass rig that AC/DC used for Back in Black (lol). It’s a song built for rocking a pub stage, and you’ll be hard pressed not to scream along!
