    Event description

Are you a youth worker on the Great South Coast who wants to help young people understand Victoria’s new affirmative consent legislation?

Yeah, Nah is a peer-led, affirmative consent education workshop run by YACVic Rural’s Southern Mallee team, funded by the Victorian Government.

Yeah, Nah’s focus is on making sure young people know that true affirmative consent is given in the moment, not hours before.

    What to expect

You’ll get equipped with knowledge on how to speak to young people about affirmative consent and staying safe in their relationships, as well as a clearer understanding of the new legislation.

    Topics we cover

    • Clarifying the latest government legislation around affirmative consent.
    • The Yeah, Nah project outline and how the workshops can support young people to practice safe and healthy relationships.
    • How to handle disclosures and practice child safety.
    • How to have the Yeah, Nah workshops delivered to young people in the Great South Coast.

    Who’s presenting

    • YACVic Yeah, Nah Project Officer Laura Crozier (she/her)
    • YACVic Young Peer Facilitator and Great South Coast local Brit Watts (she/they)

    Who should attend

    • Youth workers
    • Teachers involved in Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum delivery

    Accessibility and inclusion

Access features of this session include:

    • Throughout the training we have one ten-minute break, enable Zoom's automatic captioning and provide image descriptions of visuals used.
    • If you require extra support to attend the session, we can book in live captioning and/or Auslan interpreters.

At YACVic, we take access and inclusion seriously. If you have a specific access request not listed, would like further information or want to provide any suggestions, please contact Karen Walsh, Rural Development Coordinator Great South Coast at KWalsh@YACVic.org.au.

Our work takes place through the lands of the Aboriginal nations within Victoria and we pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

We pay particular respect to the Gunditjmara peoples where this training will take place, and the Wamba Wamba peoples on whose land Yeah, Nah was first developed. We acknowledge that Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
