Great Southern Bioblitz at Lane Cove National Park
Event description
🌿 Great Southern Bioblitz at Lane Cove National Park
Join AABR and the Friends of Lane Cove National Park for a hands-on Bioblitz using iNaturalist at the proposed site of a new data centre near Lane Cove Valley NP. We're rallying to document every species we can—plants, insects, birds, fungi, and more. Let's build a strong record of the biodiversity that calls this area home.
Hear from Friends of Lane Cove NP on the day about the proposed development plans for the data centre and how they’re using the $366,000 Urban Rivers grant to restore and protect Lane Cove NP.
This activity is part of the Great Southern Bioblitz from 24-27 October 2025, where thousands of people across the southern hemisphere will be using their devices to record observations of nature over a few days. Regions in the southern hemisphere will compete and collaborate to find species, make observations, and connect people with nature.
Learn how to use the citizen science app iNaturalist, if you are not already familiar with it, to record wild organisms around you. All our observations will help record the biodiversity around the data centre and count towards the Greater Sydney project for the Great Southern Bioblitz.
