Great Southern Bioblitz Waterbug survey
Event description
Have you ever wondered how scientists measure the health of our waterways? Would you like to be a part of a citizen science project to help a Landcare group monitor & understand how healthy the water is in a creek and be part of the Great Southern Bioblitz? If the answer is yes, then why not join Dr. David Manning, a scientist who is undertaking the Waterbug Blitz using the latest technology and a little bit of hands on science to be a scientist for a morning.
Participants in this activity will be learning to identify the various waterbugs found in a local creek & help sort them into their unique taxa and use the waterbug blitz app to record numbers found. The work is suitable for all ages including people with mobility issues or have a keen eye who enjoy being outdoors without having to do a strenuous activity or like investigating aquatic animals.
A morning tea will be served which will include fruit and muffins. Participants should BYO a collapsible chair and might like to bring a water bottle.
