Great Southern Nights and the Illawarra Folk Club Remember Peter Memorial Concert Fri 6th November 2020
Event description
A Great Southern Nights Event with the Illawarra Folk Club tribute to Peter Butler. Featuring Pat Drummond and Chloe & Jason Roweth. Presented under the Great Southern Nights NSW Government initiative ( DNSW & ARIA). This has been jointly organised by GSN, the Illawarra Folk Club and the City Diggers Wollongong.
We are dedicating this concert to our dear friend Peter Butler. He loved his Folk and Country Music and the great Pat Drummond.
Peter was always a staunch supporter of the Illawarra Folk Club and I'm sure will be with us in spirit for this feast of music, poetry and song.
What better performers to help celebrate Peter's life, than Chloe and Jason Roweth and Pat Drummond.
Chloe & Jason Roweth bring you the songs and poems of the kitchen, the verandah, the shearer’s huts, the local pub - and the yarns that go with them.
"Are there any two people who have enriched Australian traditional musical and poetic life more? I don’t think so; they are the best, and are pure gold in their integrity."
- Polly Garland
Pat Drummond . As Luke O'Shea states "It will take generations for most of us, as writers, to catch up to where Pat Drummond has been. No matter which course you take through this wild music industry, at the end of every path you will find Pat's mark on the tree."
As his success at Folk festivals; Country Festivals, Arts Festivals, pubs, clubs and Community Concerts has demonstrated, he draws his fans from people of very different ages and social backgrounds. His songs, which deal with fundamental human values like Integrity, Honesty, Fortitude, Independence, and Enterprise are often funny, sometimes angry, but always hopeful and they are mirrors in which your audiences will see at least a little of themselves. An Evening with Pat Drummond is not one you will easily forget.
