Greater Bendigo Flood Resilient Homes Roundtable
Description
Greater Bendigo Flood Resilient Homes Roundtable
Flooding remains a significant challenge for communities across the City of Greater Bendigo, with rising insurance premiums reflecting this risk and becoming unaffordable for some households.
In partnership with Arc Justice and Victorian Council of Social Service, this roundtable discussion will explore a shared long-term goal: ensuring all homes in Greater Bendigo are resilient to floods and have access to affordable insurance.
The session will bring people together to discuss and understand:
Local flood risks to housing
How flood risk and housing resilience affect insurance premiums and home loans
Opportunities and barriers to more resilient housing at the individual household and community scale
Existing initiatives to support and incentivise household resilience retrofits, and
Practical actions that can be taken in the short, medium and long term and who could lead or contribute to each
Participants will help shape a collaborative approach to reduce the impact of future floods on housing and improve access to affordable insurance.
Who should attend?
We are inviting people from across community, government, insurance, banking, housing, community organisations, Traditional Owner groups, emergency management and related sectors to join in this roundtable - and hope to see you there!
