About the Event
Join us to celebrate the Greater Sydney Heat Smart City Plan. Hear directly from government, industry, community and
research-sector leaders who developed the Plan together, to drive positive action across our city. Â
Why Attend?
This is not your standard launch event. The Plan has been co-designed by diverse Taskforce members who are serious about solving problems and taking tangible actions together. This symposium is a chance to understand the work so far, and work with us on the next important steps.  Â
- Hear from our leaders: Including the Hon. Penny Sharpe MP, NSW Minister for Climate Change, Minister for Energy, Minister for Environment and Minister for Heritage
- Understand the Plan: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Greater Sydney Heat Smart City Plan, presented by WSROC and Resilient SydneyÂ
- Hear from the Taskforce: Attend a panel discussion with Greater Sydney Heat Taskforce members on the process of the development of the Plan and challenges and opportunities for building heat resilienceÂ
- Workshop next steps: Network with other participants in a facilitated session, to generate leads for progressing heat resilience work together
- Deep dive: Get nerdy about the specific challenges we need to tackle, and opportunities we need to maximise in each of the Plan’s six directions:Â
- Heat Smart Decisions: How to improve decision making through collaboration and shared understanding of heat risk.Â
- Heat Smart Places for People: How to build heat resilience in new and existing suburbs, homes, buildings and places.Â
- Heat Smart Economies: Understanding economic impacts of heat, opportunities for innovation, and how to build a heat resilient business and workforce. Â
- Heat Smart Infrastructure: How to ensure city systems - blue, green and grey - enable communities to survive and thrive in a warming climate.Â
- Heatwave Ready: How to empower communities to build resilience, reduce risks and manage emergencies.Â
- Heat Smart Research: How researchers and practitioners can work together to deliver heat resilient solutions.Â
