Green Connect Farm Blitz Community Day
Event description
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POOR WEATHER FORECAST, THE DATE HAS CHANGED TO SATURDAY 18Â MAY
Green Connect’s 11-acre urban farm in Warrawong, NSW, produces free-range eggs, honey, meat, and organic vegetables, fruit and herbs. Green Connect is a social enterprise providing employment opportunities for former refugees and young people facing barriers to employment, and our work on the farm provides jobs that are fair for people and planet.
Our beautiful farm thrives thanks to the efforts of an enormous team of volunteers who bring their skills and labour to the farm every week. Our twice-yearly Community Farm Blitz Days are the perfect opportunity for those who would like to contribute but can’t make a regular commitment.
Come along for a fun community day focused on getting through some big, seasonal jobs at the farm. We’ll have you weeding, planting, mulching or helping us with other critical jobs – there’ll be something for people of any ability to help out with!
Children are welcome: they can play in our children’s garden while parents help out nearby. We’ll put on a farm tour after lunch to give everyone the opportunity to see the farm and meet our animals.
We’ll put on a simple catered lunch to fuel your work. Wear appropriate clothing: you’ll need sturdy, covered shoes, a hat, and sun-protective clothing that you’re happy to get dirty (preferably long pants and sleeves). We will provide gloves.
Please sign up to join our Farm Blitz so we can plan the day effectively. Please also indicate if you'll be bringing any children with you and their ages, so we can provide activities for them in the children's garden.Â
