Adult Farm Tour - OLD

Event description

This is a tour tailored for an adult audience. If you would like an experience designed specifically for children, please book into our Family Farm Tour.

We have been creating our award-winning urban farm in Lake Heights for more than eight years and we love sharing it with others! We invite you to come and see what happens when you take 11 acres of scrub, a team of passionate and hardworking staff and volunteers, then add the philosophies of permaculture and organic farming principles.

On this 75-minute tour, you will see how our market gardens work, our food forest that is slowly producing fruit, and meet the free-range sheep, pigs, goats and/or chickens who love a good feed. On the tour, we’ll talk about Green Connect as a whole, what running a social enterprise entails, and our plans for the future. Tours run rain or shine so dress appropriately. We believe that getting muddy is all part of the fun!

The site is a working farm and is particularly steep and slippery in parts and, at this stage, is not accessible for prams, wheelchairs etc. The tour is a moderately strenuous walking tour of a steep, sloping and often very muddy site. It is your responsibility to ensure you can walk the site before making your booking. See the video above to check this is the tour for you.

At Green Connect Farm, we create jobs for young people and former refugees, we reduce waste, and we grow fair food – food that is good for the people who grow it (fair wages and a good job), good for the people who eat it (healthy and pesticide-free) and good for the planet (sold locally and without polluting the planet). Come along to ask us more about what we do including workshops on permaculture and backyard gardening.

Allergen advice:

Our farm features pigs, chickens, goats, sheep and an alpaca plus bees, wasps and macadamia trees.
So, please pack your Epipen if allergic and keep it with you at all times

You must bring:
• Enclosed shoes or boots – sorry no thongs or sandals as we have
several red bellied black snakes on the farm
• Hat and sunscreen or rain gear including gumboots (please check the forecast)
• Water to drink – we don’t provide drinking water
• Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (and maybe a change of clothes just in case)
