Green Drinks
Description
Join us for the April Green Drinks to learn more about the critical role of biodiversity finance in Aotearoa.
Ian Herbert, University of Otago NZ BIOFIN Assessment Lead will share the work he's been undertaking on the country's first ever biodiversity finance gap assessment. BIOFIN was launched by the United Nations Development Programme in 2012, to provide technical support to countries to develop and implement strategies for biodiversity finance which is investment in nature as natural capital.
This is both exciting and important work, shining a spotlight on the role biodiversity plays in our economy's, our ecological resilience, our cultural identity and the wellbeing of future generations and why it needs to be funded. This is a vital conversation of our time, and we are so fortunate to have Ian in Tauranga, leading this initiative. There will be time available for questions after Ian has shared his work with us.
