Green Drinks: Regenerating the Red Zone - Pathways, Plantings and Possibilities
Event description
Regenerating the red zone - pathways, planting and possibilities
There is enormous potential to transform the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor into the jewel in Christchurch’s crown, creating a place for residents and visitors to explore, play, connect and learn. At 602 hectares, the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor regeneration area is three-and-a-half times larger than Hagley Park.
Project Manager Sam Morris will update on the City to Sea Pathway and Partnerships Ranger Sarah Mankelow will talk about restoration planting, City Nature Challenge and other ways you can get involved.
Sam Morris is a project manager at CCC delivering infrastructure projects in the Residential Red Zone. Sam's background is water/civil engineering, after studying Natural Resources Engineering at UC.
Sarah Mankelow is Community Partnerships Ranger for the Christchurch City Council’s red zone parks team. Sarah works with community and transitional leaseholders to ensure everyone has an opportunity to connect and contribute to the future of these spaces.
