Green Pools "Let it Lay" Single Launch @ The Bird
Event description
Green Pools present their latest single, "Let it Lay" with a special launch at The Bird on November 11th.Â
Beginning with a saturated, tape-delayed howling guitar, the song sinks into a washed-out, dream-like reverie combining saccharine, syrupy lead vocals, darker lower harmonies and gritty, grunge-tinged guitars juxtaposed with soft, lilting acoustic guitar. The song is reminiscent of 90’s whimsical contemporary acts such as The Cardigans, Broadcast and the Cocteau Twins.Â
The song follows Praying Mantis, the band’s first single this year, which dealt with themes of mental illness and body image. Let it Lay details the process of trying to be a better person who handles their health and relationships better, the struggles of comparison and anxiety before giving in to tiredness and resignation, characterized by washy harmonies before the song gently winds to a close.
Let it Lay continues the creative collaboration between Green Pools and producer Mitch MacDonald (The Love Junkies, Westminster Day Surgery), drawing inspiration from Radiohead, Boygenius, Big Thief and The Cardigans.
Joined by special mates King Ibis and Jacob Wylde.Â
