Green Rd Reserve - Caring for Papatūānuku

Celebrate Conservation Week and discover Green Rd Reserve, Dairy Flat and meet the community who are restoring the native biodiversity.

3.5 km mostly flat walk, can be very muddy. Not suitable for small children

This workshop invites participants to deepen their connection with the whenua (land). Together, we will explore the impacts of invasive species, the role of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), and the importance of restoring balance to our native ecosystems. By listening to the stories of the land and its people, we aim to inspire collective action and a renewed sense of responsibility for the wellbeing of our natural taonga (treasures).

We discuss the actions we can take to increase the mauri (life force) of this park. By drawing attention to these vulnerable spaces, we aim to raise awareness of the challenges they face and inspire collective action to support their recovery.
