Event description

Namaste Everyone

My name is Jivananda and I will be hosting the meditation morning at Greenbank. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great 1-1/2 hour meditation session together. These mornings will be regular monthly event - 1st Sunday of each month.

There is an old saying “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” and this is exactly true with meditation. A person may hear a pudding is sweet and delicious but won’t know what that really means until tasted. Yoga Mantra Meditation is soul food, joyful, peaceful, changing life for the better… and so much more. But to really understand we need to experience meditation for ourselves. So for this reason, I hope you will take the opportunity to come along on Sunday 6th October and enjoy a taste of meditation.

I will be guiding everyone through 3 traditional practices of meditation with Mantra.

Beginning the morning with Yoga Breathing + Mantra to help us settle in and relax, this session is about 15 mins.

From Mantra Breath, we move into a time-honoured meditation practice using beads to focus and quieten the mind. Many people come to meditation to calm and rest a busy mind. It is a very real problem in modern life. So many pressures and responsibilities to shoulder, and our minds become anxious. This meditation using beads is called Japa Meditation. As we focus carefully on Yoga Sound (Mantra) through the media of beads. *Japa beads will be supplied during the class with an option to buy a string of beads for $5 for your ongoing personal practice.

We will end the session with some Kirtan meditation. Kirtan is the singing of ancient Vedic mantras, spiritually uplifting songs, prayers and the Sacred Names of the Supreme. Rather than being a type of performance, Kirtan is a journey of self discovery. Weaving together melody, music and mantra with people responding to the words of the singer, clapping, swaying and sometimes dancing, Kirtan is simultaneously a meditative, exhilarating and fun activity.

Be a part of an immersive and interactive mantra meditation experience with Greenbank Kirtan Meditation!
