Kirtan Meditation Greenbank
Event description
Namaste Everyone. My name is Jivananda, and I will be hosting the Sunday morning meditation at Greenbank. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great meditation session together. These mornings will be regular monthly event - 1st Sunday of each month.
There is an old saying “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” and this is exactly true with meditation. A person may hear a pudding is sweet and delicious but won’t know what that really means until tasted. Mantra Meditation is soul food, joyful, peaceful, changing life for the better ….and so much more. But to really understand we need to experience meditation for ourselves. So for this reason, I hope you will take the opportunity to come and enjoy the taste of meditation.
I will be guiding everyone through 3 traditional practices of meditation with Mantra. Beginning the morning with Easy Breath+ Mantra to help settle in and relax.
From Mantra Breath we move into a time-honoured meditation practice to focus and quieten the mind. Many people come to meditation to calm and rest a busy mind. It’s a very real problem in modern life. So many pressures and responsibilities to shoulder, and our minds become anxious.
Using meditation beads, called Japa beads, we focus carefully on Mantra , or yoga sound . * Japa beads will be supplied during the class with an option to buy a string of beads for your ongoing personal practice.
Group meditation , called Kirtan follows. We may think of meditation as only a solitary endeavour , but in Kirtan we join together and sing/chant the mantras - support and be supported by others - to help us immerse ourselves in meditation . Kirtan is described as ‘the heart of meditation’.
When: The first Sunday of the month 10am – 11:30 am.
Where: Currong Rooms Greenbank Community Centre , 145 Teviot Road , Greenbank.
What to bring: water bottle, wear comfy clothes, and if you have a favourite floor cushion or mat bring that along!
Cost: A free community program run by donations. You can donate when booking in, or there is a ‘donation tin’ on the day. All donations gratefully received 😊 .
