Greenham Beef Sustainability Standard Launch
Event description
Join us for the launch of our new Greenham Beef Sustainability Standard (GBSS)!
We're thrilled to introduce our voluntary on-farm standard, which was developed in partnership with industry experts, customers, and producers in response to growing market demand for beef with robust and transparent sustainability credentials.
The practical program is aligned with the themes identified by industry in the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF): animal welfare, environmental stewardship, people & the community, and economic resilience.
Come along to hear insights and helpful tips from industry leaders including:
- MLA Beef Sustainability Manager, Jacob Betros will present on industry progress and new sustainability goals.
- Greenham Managing Director, Peter Greenham; Mick Taylor from Fulton Market Group (McDonald's beef buyer); and NAB's James Bentley will discuss who is asking about our sustainability credentials and what they're seeking.
- GBSS Pilot Producers, Gavin Furness (Bena), Gary & Linda Nankervis (Towong), and Mark Wootton (Jigsaw Farms) will discuss how the standard was applied on-farm: the challenges, benefits, and future opportunities.
- Experienced Agro-ecologist and Sustainability Consultant, Leanne Sheriff will walk us through the simple tools & explainers developed to support producers.
- We'll break out into smaller groups to deep dive into some key areas of the standard including understanding carbon, improving farm safety, maintaining ground cover and feedbase, and farming for enhanced biodiversity.
- Greenham Livestock Supply Chain Manager, Jess Loughland will explain next steps for the standard and how you can get involved.
We'll also serve up a BBQ lunch featuring premium Bass Strait Beef.
The GBSS is a voluntary on-farm program available to new and existing Greenham NEVER EVER-accredited suppliers. The program is aligned with the themes identified in the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework and was developed in partnership with industry experts, customers, and producers in response to growing market demand for beef with robust and transparent environmental credentials.
