Event description

Greening the City Centre (aka CBD) - Community Gardening (For people living in the city centre, or those contributing to community gardening in the city centre)

Sunday 6 April, 1 - 2:30pm,

Aaiotanga Community Space, 22 Emily Place

Would you love to see a greener city centre?

Would you like to grow plants on your balcony, rooftop or courtyard, that contribute to pollination, birdlife, air quality and beauty?

Would you like to participate in city based community gardens, growing local, heathy food?

Would you like to be a part of beautifying our city centre through growing plants in harmony with our landscape?

Would you like to make friends while contributing to a healthy and beautiful world?

Do you own or have access to piece of land in the city that could be brought to life with the help of some friends and a few $$$?

Come along to meet with others, and learn about fantastic projects happening all around our city centre and how you can participate.

This event is a community-led initiative supported by: Aaiotanga Trust, Grey Lynn 2030, and the Department of Internal Affairs.

Any koha received for this event will go towards the Papa Ngāhere community greening initiative. Papa Ngāhere (the forest floor) is a community-led project, developed in the city centre and funded through Aaiotanga Trust. It includes enabling residents to grow eco-sourced native plants on their balconies, roof-tops, courtyards and alleyways, to improve our pollinator pathways, support our birdlife and beautify our Vertical Neighbourhoods. This is an open project that welcomes contributions, guidance and support from other organisations and welcomes participation by all.

We seek to support Mana Whenua-led restoration strategies and take guidance from the Te Haumanu Taiao document and the Auckland Council Urban Ngāhere strategy.
