    Event description

Explore plants and play for Melbourne International Games Week

Videogames and the Gardens – together at last. Join us at Greening the Screen, an experiment in game-making as a way to engage with the environment around us. Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria partnering with Melbourne-based game and community developers, Weird Flex Studio, to create a new videogame based here in Narrm (Melbourne) with native plants and animals as the stars.

Come and play with us at this afternoon in nature, exploring fun and new ways to engage with plants. Chat with developers, artists and Gardens staff, participate in nature-based activities and get the inside word on Weird Flex Studio, and Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s in-development videogame. Guided sensory walks will run on the hour.

Everyone is welcome to drop in, from families to gamers to anyone interested in the intersection of technology and nature. And for Melbourne International Games Week attendees, this could be the stimulating outdoor break you need.

Presented by Weird Flex Studio in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria as part of Melbourne International Games Week. Please note that media will be present at the event.
