About The Book

It's About Time is a story of love, jealousy, and the spiritual power of music.

Woody Harper, a talented but troubled singer-songwriter, thought his life was finally on track after writing his first hit song. But the pressure mounts along with his fame. Woody, now living with his wife Stephanie and their baby daughter, struggles to write and record new music, tour with a dysfunctional band, and keep his cocaine habit under control.

When Woody loses his daughter in a reckless moment, his life spirals out of control. Meanwhile, Ray Bell, the singer who once stole his song, sues for co-writing credit, igniting a bitter courtroom battle. As their personal and professional lives collide, both men are forced to confront their pasts—and each other—in an explosive finale.

"Greg exposes the insularity of the pop-music business with stunning veracity. It’s an insider’s look at its highs, lows, and a whiff of the steaming guts, delivered with style and verve. . .not incidentally featuring an unforgettable leading lady."
—Robert Hunter,Grateful Dead lyricist

"A cracker jack book about the music business, so much truer, funnier and wackier than any of the BS stories that are starting to peep through the mulch of Netfliix. As an accomplished musician, Anton knows the details of the music business intimately, and as a recovering attorney, understands human nature."
—Peter Coyote, author and actor

"At the heart of Greg Anton’s gripping novel of music, law and love, It’s About Time is a song, a song you never have to hear to witness its effect on the lives of the people who sang it, wrote it and inspired it. Jealousy, backstabbing, lawsuits, dreams and deceits, plus a cameo from Marlon Brando – this is the music business, babe, real, gritty and heartful. Just like a song."
—Joel Selvin, author, San Francisco Chronicle and Rolling Stone award-winning music critic
