Greg’s career has long centred around writing and storytelling — first as an English teacher and later working in corporate communications. Over the years he has helped many families capture and share their personal stories and memoirs.

Inspired by his time teaching in Far North Queensland in the 1980s, Greg returned to the region years later and began crafting the story that would become his debut novel, Under Silkwood. The manuscript was shortlisted for the Queensland Writers’ Centre 2024 Adaptable program, and an excerpt was long-listed for the 2024 Sydney Hammond Memorial Short Story Award.

Greg will be in conversation with our very own Tenille McDermott, chatting about the inspiration behind the novel, his writing journey, and bringing Far North Queensland to life on the page.
