Grief and Loss in Late Life - for CHSP providers

Grief is a constant presence in late life — functional decline, loss of independence, family distress, ambiguous loss, and client death. This workshop provides language, understanding, and practical tools for responding to grief in older people, families, and colleagues.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand grief in late life (including ambiguous loss)

  • Recognise grief responses in older people and families

  • Respond to grief with confidence and compassion

  • Support clients through decline and transitions

  • Reduce emotional fatigue and improve resilience

Facilitated by Julie Bajic Smith, Wise Care

Sector Support & Development is funded by the Department of Health, Disability & Ageing.
