Grindr Community Forum
Event description
Join us for a community forum as we unpack the alarming rise in violent assaults targeting gay and bi+ men using dating apps like Grindr and Scruff.
According to the ABC, over 35 arrests have been made in Victoria over the past year in connection to these attacks, some involving alleged offenders as young as 13. Police have confirmed that fake profiles are being used to lure victims before robbing and assaulting them.
We are calling on both state and federal governments to take coordinated action against the rising tide of homophobia and youth radicalisation.
This important forum will cover:
What’s been happening in our communities
How government, police, and community organisations are responding
What steps individuals can take to keep themselves and others safe
