The Groove Music team are delighted to present the amazing Libby Hammer Quartet to kick off the series.
Join us for this special event at the Melville jazz basement, a distinctive space with a jazz club
flair.
Playwright Ben Hecht once said, “Old songs are more than tunes. They are little houses in which our hearts once lived.” Exploring the joy of those abodes, whether during moments of joy, sorrow, or the multitude of moments in between, is Libby Hammer along with her beloved musical collaborators Chris Foster (piano), Nick Abbey (double bass) and Michael Perkins (drums).
Libby has been performing in one guise or another around Perth for three decades now, and her wealth of experience engenders an immediate atmosphere of ease and humour. The songs in her repertoire are plucked from the highest boughs of the jazz orchard or rummaged from the dusty trunk of forgotten ditties and all are as entertaining as the next. An evening of jazz par excellence.
The City of Melville is partnering with Groove Music Series as part of the Night Time Activation Grant program to bring you once-a-month, intimate jazz music experiences over August, September and October.
